IVSA Symposium 2017

“New Frontiers in Veterinary Medicine” - Raleigh, NC

Applications for the IVSA Symposium being held this January at North
Carolina State University are now open!!! Applications will stay open until
October 1st, and can be found at this website:
https://cvm.ncsu.edu/event/ivsa2017/

·      Scholarship applications for this event are now open as well, and
will stay open until September 20th. There will be about 16 $500
scholarships available for this event, so please apply if you are
interested!

·      This event will be a great chance to meet and network with
international veterinary students, work towards the betterment of
veterinary education on a global level, and in general have a good time in
North Carolina.  Over 25 international veterinary schools will be
represented!  The theme is “New Frontiers in Veterinary Medicine”,
emphasizing cutting edge techniques and therapies.

·      Costs: 300 Euro registration fee covers all food, lodging, and
transportation for the week in North Carolina (thus, the only other
additional cost is that of travel – which you can apply the scholarship
toward!)

·      Updates will be made on the website and broadcast in the following

IVSA Seeks Student Committee & Group Members

IVSA has 6 committees and working groups that are looking for students
interested in helping out with projects over this next year!

·      Applications for these committees are now open, and applications
will be accepted until September 16th!

·      It is a great chance to work closely with veterinary students from
all around the world and help advance the profession on a global level.
Plus, it is a great way to see some of what IVSA accomplishes for its
members.

41st World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) World Congress

The 41st World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) World Congress
will be held in Cartegena, Columbia this year, from September 27 – 30, 2016.

·      This 4-day congress is one of the biggest veterinary events in the
world, and offers lectures on all topics within veterinary medicine
(surgery, neurology, emergency, cardiology, welfare, one health, etc) from
renowned speakers.

·      Besides attending the lectures, you’ll have the opportunity to
network with veterinarians from all over the world, representatives of
international organizations/companies during the exhibition, and enjoy the
“Beach Party”

·      Volunteers, signed up through IVSA, will receive FREE registration
(which is work $595 USD); as a volunteer you’ll be working the registration
booth, bag collection, or assisting the speakers in the rooms.  We’ll make
sure that everyone has enough time to enjoy the lectures as well.  There will
be a big group of student volunteers so it will be fun even while
'working'.  You would have to pay for your own flight ticket and
accommodation is NOT included in the price but is cheap in Cartagena (can
be as low as €10 per night).

·      If you want to be a volunteer, please send a short introduction and
why you would like to be a volunteer to secretarygeneral at ivsa.org (first
come first serve!)

41st World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) World Congress

Have you ever wanted to experience Africa’s wildlife hands on?  Now is your
opportunity to do so… SYMCO (also known as the International Symposium on
Wildlife Utilisation) provides the opportunity for 80 Vet Students from
around the world to come to South Africa and join us on a once in a
lifetime Symposium.

·      The Symposium occurs over a period of around 18 days.  During these
18 days we will travel around South Africa and experience its wildlife from
a Veterinary perspective.  There will be lectures from some of South
Africa’s most renowned wildlife veterinarians as well as practical
experiences that one could only dream of.   You would also be afforded the
opportunity to learn more about the conservation of wildlife in South
Africa and how to work with these animals.

·   This truly is an amazing opportunity to not only gather more knowledge
from a veterinary perspective and gain incomparable practical experience
but also to make new friends for life!!

·   Dates of SYMCO:  29 June - 16 July 2017* (dates may change)
