Hello everyone,

There was an incident report filed this week after a 16g needle was found
in the AVC cafeteria. The needle was found on the counter of the waste
receptacle beside the coffee cream/milk and sugar area of the cafeteria.
Thankfully, the needle was capped, and no one was injured. The needle was
not a brand or type that is typically used in the VTH, so I have chosen to
send this communication to all of the AVC community in case the needle was
associated with non-clinical (e.g., research or other) activity.

***PLEASE NOTE** All personnel using sharps are responsible for storing
them appropriately and for placing used sharps in one of the Sharps
Disposal receptacles, located throughout the College. S**harps should never
be placed in the pocket of a lab coat, but disposed of immediately after
use in a sharps container. **Sharps are NEVER to be placed in regular waste
or left in communal areas of the building where they could pose a hazard to
others.*

Thank you,
