*Relay for Life:*

I was contacted by the organizers of UPEI’s Relay for Life event to spread
the word to AVC. Every year UPEI hosts Relay For Life, a fundraiser and
awareness raiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. This year's event will be
on January 19th at the UPEI sports center from 6pm to 12am. I have started
an AVC team so if anyone is interested in participating follow the link to
register. If there is more interest feel free to make your own team and
start a competition to see how much you can fundraise! If you have any
questions don’t hesitate to email me at sbegin at upei.ca.

Thank you,
Samantha Begin

*"Non-invasive medical device to spay/neuter animals”*

*Presenter: Shawn King, founder, SonusRex LLC*

*SonusRex LLC
a medical device company dedicated to the development of non-invasive
technology for medical treatments. Most recently, SonusRex developed a
handheld device for spaying and neutering animals non-invasively, which
will lead to a decrease in procedure-related infection rates, allow for
shorter recovery time, and minimize stress to the patients and owners. The
technology will be optimized to allow a more efficient sterilization
procedure for veterinarians and staff.

*We are also pleased to have emerging animal health company, Simini
Technologies to provide an overview of their company*

*Simini Technologies*
the veterinary rights to human health drug candidates to develop those
products for animal health applications. Their focus is identifying
therapies for companion animals (dogs, cats and horses) with an initial
focus on dermatology, pain management and dry eye syndrome. Simini targets
drug candidates at an early stage of human clinical development, which
possess significant data that can be leveraged to accelerate animal health
development. The ultimate goal for Simini is to create a company that can
systemically review, evaluate, license, develop and ultimately
commercialize veterinary drug candidates from the more than US$58 billion
spent worldwide annually on human drug development.

*NOTE: Parking is limited on campus - metered parking is available at
various locations for non-permit holders.*
